Philodendron Gloriosum
Philodendron Gloriosum
I present to you the philodendron gloriosum! The leaves are large, green, and velvety. This beautiful philodendron is very easy to care for is a perfect addition to any plant collection for any level of plant parent. A mature plant can reach 2.5 feet tall. Even with its height, this is a crawler, not a climber so a long pot would be recommended
Light: this plant can tolerate partial sun, but bright indirect light is always the best. Bright indirect light is when the plant can see the sky, but no sun rays are able to directly touch the leaf.
Watering: This philodendron can be prone to root rot. Waiting until the first 3-4 inches of soil is dry before watering can prevent rot. Feed with a half strength fertilizer every other watering during the summer months, and decrease to once a month during the winter.
Soil: Since this plant is prone to root rot issues, a well draining mix is preferred. A combo of perlite/pumice, orchid bark, horticulture charcoal, and compost is ideal.
Temperature/Humidity: This plant is native to Columbia so it would prefer temperatures between 55 and 85 degrees. Like most jungle plants, this philodendron prefers humidity between 50 and 65%. If you’re having issues with leaves crisping, you may need a humidifier.
