The all time classic Swiss cheese plant aka the Monstera Adansonii. This beautiful fenestrated plant is a staple in any plant room. Very easy to care for and a hardy plant for beginning plant parents. You can let this plant vine along or climb up a moss pole. If you let it climb, the foliage can reach up to 12” long. These plants can also reach heights of 10ft in their natural environment.
Light: This plant can tolerate partial sun, but bright indirect light is always the best. Bright indirect light is when the plant can see the sky, but no sun rays are able to directly touch the leaf.
Watering: Water when the first 2-3 inches of soil is dry. Feed with a half strength fertilizer every other watering during the summer months, and decrease to once a month during the winter.
Soil: A well draining mix is ideal for this plant. A combo of perlite/pumice, orchid bark, horticulture charcoal, and compost is great. A regular potting mix with added perlite will work as well.
Temperature/Humidity: This plant is native to Central and S. America so it would prefer temperatures between 55 and 85 degrees. Like most jungle plants, humidity between 50 and 65% is ideal but your plant will be fine in ambient household humidity. If you’re having issues with leaves crisping, you may need a humidifier.
